Baltimore, MD - Earlier today the MD State Council of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) announced their endorsement of Bill Ferguson, candidate for State Senate in Maryland's 46th legislative district.

SEIU is the fastest-growing union in North America, focusing on uniting workers in the key service sectors of healthcare, public services and property services to improve the lives and services that their 2.2 million members provide.

Citing his passion and dedication to issues important to working families, SEIU has committed to work tirelessly in support of Ferguson's candidacy in the 46th district.

"We believe Bill Ferguson is the energetic and progressive leader Baltimore needs in Annapolis," commented Terrence Cavanagh, Executive Director of SEIU Maryland and DC State Council.

Shortly after being notified of the SEIU Maryland State Council endorsement Ferguson commented: "SEIU is the fastest growing union in the country.  I feel honored to receive their endorsement and I know that together we can work to protect the jobs of thousands of residents in Baltimore's 46th District who work in the service sectors."

Word of SEIU's endorsement of Ferguson arrives with only 33 days left until the September 14th primary. The Maryland State Council joins the Maryland Chapter of the Sierra Club, the Maryland League of Conservation Voters, the Stonewall Democrats of Central Maryland, and the Democrats for Education Reform in endorsing Ferguson.
